This morning, we travelled through kiwifruit country to the city of Rotorua, which is the center of multicultural and thermal activity. We had a chance to observe geysers for thermal activity, and there was also a carving and weaving school here. At lunchtime, there was a buffet with traditional Māori food called hangi.
We returned to National Geographic Orion and left for our next destination. There were two enriching presentations, one from National Geographic Photographer Erica, as well as Birgit who gave us more background on Māori Culture. What an immersive day!
