Our day at Takaroa began with a warm welcome from a small local community nestled within an aqua-blue, fast-flowing pass of a large lagoon. The guests were greeted by the quiet beauty of the island before embarking on a short journey aboard a local school bus. First stop, the incredible County of Roxburgh’s shipwreck. Standing inside this massive wreck, which measures 186 feet, was truly awe-inspiring, offering a rare glimpse into the island's maritime history.
Next, we visited a working pearl farm where guests learned about the delicate process of cultivating pearls. From the meticulous care of oysters to finally the stunning pearls, it was a fascinating experience.
Afterward, everyone returned onboard, their hands wrapped around a refreshing, ice cold coconut— the perfect end to a memorable day in Takaroa.
