Gus Anning

Gus is an experienced mariner guiding and exploring some of the most remote places on the planet, encountering the best and worst of what nature has to offer. Growing up sailing, hiking, and mountaineering in New Zealand with kiwi on his doorstep he has worked on many biodiversity projects with the New Zealand Department of Conservation, mainly on offshore islands and on the remote mountain tops of the South Island, New Zealand. Including the endangered Kakapo, Haast Kiwi and North Island Kokako. With his Māori links to the Ngai Te Rangi tribe and Mātaatua waka he has a deep passion for Māori and Polynesian culture and history evident in his many trips sailing across the Pacific. He has also spent 19 years working on New Zealand's Sub Antarctic Islands and knows them like the back of his hand. Gus's love for adventure is infectious, and he looks forward to sharing his knowledge of history, culture, flora, and fauna with you on one of our expeditions. In his spare time, he loves to read, spearfish and work in his fruit forest and earth ship in the Coromandel Peninsula with his wife and family.
