The last Venetian jewel we encountered is the city of Rovinj. In the peace of a Sunday morning, we found that some vendors had already set up their stalls and were ready to sell their local products. The entrance to the old town was marked by the arch built by the Venetians, sporting the ever-present winged lion of St. Mark. Climbing up to the Church of St. Euphemia, we found that cats were the sole living beings in the stone-covered alleys. Once we arrived in the church, we had the unique opportunity to see the start of a mass, officiated for the faithful who still speak Italian.
Later, we proceeded to Winery San Tommaso, where we tasted different varieties of local wine. We liked the experience so much that many of us came back with gifts for our wine-loving friends and relatives. Once back on the ship, the afternoon brought an unexpected surprise: the swim platform was opened and all those eager to swim in the clear waters of the sea could enjoy an exciting and refreshing plunge in the deep blue water.
