We began our morning surrounded by fin whales and several different species of birds as we approached Point Wild. Having heard stories of the enduring men that spent over four months in this spot, it was a powerful experience to imagine what it must have been like.

After lunch, we continued to push further northwest. Fin whale sightings and exceptional birdwatching persisted throughout the day. With quite calm seas and the sun shining, we enjoyed an afternoon tea with grilled sausages underneath the heaters outside. With the first stage of our expedition complete, we are all very excited for what is to come! We are making our way toward Coronation Island. From there, we will continue on to South Georgia!
