Our original plan had been to spend the "night" heading towards Kvitoya but a combination of polar bear sightings, ice and fog prevented us from heading in that direction. Instead we did some exploring on Wilhelmoya instead. This is an island that we have never visited before. Some of us explored by hiking, and others opted to explore via Zodiacs as there were numerous ice floes in the shallow bay. Two of the Zodiac explorers were rewarded with an exceptional view of a male walrus resting for the afternoon! We turned off the outboard engines and used our paddles for an awesome view of this 3,000-pound marine mammal. After watching him for about a half hour we left him to his afternoon nap.
