After a fantastic week on the Peninsula of Antarctica, we began our journey back across the Drake Passage to return to Ushuaia where this amazing adventure commenced. The morning started a bit later today because we had so much fun watching the Crew Show and dancing into the evening the night before. After a well-deserved sleep in, a delicious brunch was served with endless amounts of tasty treats, and laughter was heard throughout the restaurant.
The sea state on the Drake was rather pleasant with waves around three meters. The ship is used to moving in waves this size, and a comfortable afternoon was had on board.
Berit, a seasoned naturalist, gave an informative presentation on whales of the Antarctic. This was followed by an excellent teatime that included Argentinian empanadas, a favorite of all.
We then heard from Camille Seaman, National Geographic photographer, about her journey to becoming the person she is today. It was wonderful to hear her story and learn more about Indigenous women breaking through in the photography world.
I like to use the day of the Drake Passage crossing to go through the photos I took, deleting the blurry ones and finding a few favorites. I catch up on sleep after fun-filled expeditions and reflect on the beauty we saw while exploring the White Continent.
