Sometimes it’s the little things in life!
Today was a photographers delight as it was full of large and charismatic mega fauna such as red howler monkeys, capybaras, brown-throated sloths, and great egrets. I chose to turn my camera towards the smaller life forms, which are just as interesting, and perhaps more photographically challenging!
Long telephoto lenses make excellent macro photos, allowing the close up inspection of small subjects from greater distances. Dedicated macro lenses, or aim and create cameras with a macro setting, also take beautiful close up imagery. Many folks are surprised to find out just how close their smart phones allow them to get to little critters as well!
Throughout the day, and even into our night walk near the Pacaya River, small subjects lent themselves to the making of interesting photographs! Of course we still took pleasure in all of those large creatures, but how much more rewarding is it to seek out and capture (on camera) those little treasures that are all around us?
