This morning, we awoke to the warm, brisk winds and gentle swells of the Java Sea, which set National Geographic Orion rocking softly and set the tone for a day of discovery. Our day began with a humorous and insightful session on coral reef ecology led by Cookie, followed by a fascinating presentation on sharks with Adam.
In the afternoon, we went ashore to explore the stunning reefs of Belitung. Snorkeling among the vibrant, colorful fish and thriving coral was an unforgettable experience. The highlight of the day was the privilege of participating in reef conservation by releasing juvenile hawksbill turtles. We were then warmly welcomed into the town of Tanjung Kelayang with a reception filled with dancing, local delicacies, and laughter.
