Our first day aboard National Geographic Sea Bird was one for the record books! We spent the day in Bahia Almejas, the Bay of the Clams, which is known to be a breeding lagoon for courting gray whales. Not only did we find gray whales ready to mingle, but we also spotted a mother and calf pair, which surprised the naturalists. After this unique sighting we saw four to five whales spy-hopping at the same time and in the distance another whale breached. Friendly whales came up to the pangas and some lucky guests even got to pet a whale. It was a whaley good day.
