Our explorers awoke to a lovely blue sky this morning. From the Delfin II we could see a small village called Atun Poza. We loaded into the skiffs right after sunrise to explore this remote area of the Pacaya and Samiria reserve.
A group of kids ran to the shore to meet us and waved hello as we passed close to the village. They began to show different species of fishes that had been caught during the night. Their smiling faces revealed their happiness at welcoming new guests in their village.
We spent the morning exploring this section of the reserve. At mid-morning, we had a delicious breakfast on the skiffs, while enjoying the beauty of the river.
For the afternoon, we moved to an even more remote area of the reserve. Here in the Pacaya River, aside from exploring, we also had the great opportunity to cool off by swimming in the beautiful Yanayacu lagoon.
It was another beautiful day in the Upper Amazon, and more discoveries await us tomorrow.
