Today the seas calmed a bit for a slightly smoother ride on our way to South Georgia from the Falkland Islands. We were accompanied by petrels of all sizes, a few great albatross, prions, and quite a few spouts of air in the distance from humpback and fin whales announcing our arrival into South Georgian waters.

Today we doubled down on preparing for South Georgia and we went through our biosecurity process once more in order to ensure that our visit doesn’t transfer or leave behind any unwanted visitors.

In the afternoon, we had a wonderful introduction to South Georgia from Tiphanie and our National Geographic Photographer Tommy Heinrich about his expedition to Mt. Everest. The day was capped off with a lovely meal and further iPhone wisdom from Photo Instructor Doug.
