This fall, we were delighted to see our highly anticipated voyage to Japan set sail for the first time, introducing guests to Asian treasures both iconic and uncommon. Aboard the dynamic National Geographic Resolution, we stepped back in time to trace the country’s riveting history, from the storied castle towns of the Edo period to the elegant merchant districts of the Meiji era. Along the way, we also encountered expressive art, distinctive cuisine, and lush nature.

These alluring images, recently captured by staff photographer David Vargas, will immerse you in the teahouses, temples, and traditions that underscored our inaugural expeditions. We hope they will inspire you to join us in Japan in 2024.
