This day served as a showcase of the culinary immersive experience within the Columbia and Snake Rivers tour with a day spent in the wine-centric Walla Walla Valley.
After a rigid inflatable watercraft ride to Sacajawea State Park near Pasco, Washington, those with an interest in wine spent the morning tasting and touring Dunham Cellars, one of Walla Walla’s oldest wineries. Others toured the Whitman Mission National Historic Site. All guests met for lunch at Three Rivers Winery, which is part of the Foley Family Wines empire. Gorgeous weather encouraged lawn games of cornhole and disc golf.
Next was a self-guided walking tour of Walla Walla with tastings at Bergevin Lane Vineyards, Browne Family Vineyards, Mark Ryan Winery, and Rasa Vineyards.
Upon returning to National Geographic Sea Bird, after-dinner education featured a presentation titled, ‘The Future of Dammed Salmon and the Columbia River Treaty’, by cultural specialist Patrick MacQuarrie.
