Today aboard National Geographic Endeavour II, we had the opportunity to start the day with a morning walk at Urbina Bay, a black sandy beach located on the rim of Alcedo Volcano on Isabela Island. Just when we arrived, a marine turtle was coming back from laying their eggs at the beach. A few minutes later, two little sea turtles hatched and started to make their way to the ocean. As we walked along the trail, we had close encounters with yellow land iguanas and giant Alcedo tortoises!
After the hike, some guests returned to the ship by Zodiac, and others had a refreshing swim at Urbina Bay beach sharing the space with seven penguins and pelicans that were feeding at the coast. Today we had a delicious traditional Ecuadorian buffet lunch, where we learned the proper way to eat ceviche.
Then National Geographic Endeavour II moved to Tagus Cove, another location on Isabela Island. In this beautiful and protected cove, guests had the opportunity to paddleboard, kayak and snorkel surrounded by marine life, including curious Galapagos penguins. As a last activity of the day, we did a Zodiac ride along the cove with a beautiful sunset. Perfect way to end our journey!
