“Simply wow”–a concise description by guests on board National Geographic Quest while exploring Endicott Arm fjord. Having completed our exploration of the northwest corner of the Inside Passage, we have now headed almost 200 miles east towards the Coast Mountain Range. The Tracy Arm-Fords Terror Wilderness encompasses 653,179 acres of the Coast Mountains south of Juneau, Alaska. As the highest protection for a land area awarded by the U.S. government, the 1964 Wilderness Act states that, “…to assure that an increasing population…leaves no lands designated for preservation and protection in their natural condition.”

Today, guests explored the wild beauty of a 35-mile-long fjord that terminates in our final tidewater glacier of the expedition. Here, those that are brave enough to venture into the cold will get as close as is safe to the face of the glacier in Zodiacs, hoping for some calving or wildlife to show.
