For the first time in 15 months we’re posting Daily Expedition Reports from Alaska. This simple act—the ordinary telling of the truth about an expedition day, as we have for decades—feels momentous. We are jumping for joy—knowing National Geographic Venture is on the move and guests are having the extraordinary experiences we have waited so long to provide.  – The Lindblad Expeditions Team

Our first full day on the National Geographic Venture in Southeast Alaska started and ended in the same exciting way – bears! We had bears on the bright, sunny shoreline after breakfast, a bear swimming by the boat before dinner, and a bear on the water’s edge before bed.

Then, while admiring South Sawyer Glacier, we had the special opportunity to observe hundreds of harbor seal moms and their pups hauled out, resting together on floating bits of glacial ice. What an unbelievable day for wildlife and a great welcome back to Southeast Alaska for our guests, officers, crew, and staff on NG Venture’s first trip in 2021.
