Waking up under a blue sky in the Scotia Sea while sailing to South Georgia, National Geographic Endurance sliced through fairly calm seas with her X-Bow like a hot knife passed through butter. We spent the day relaxing on the ship and made use of the spa, gym, and wellness facilities. We listened to talks by naturalists, scientists, and photographers.

In the morning, we were interrupted by several humpback, fin, and blue whale sightings. In the Ice Lounge, we enjoyed a presentation on “Chasing Light” by National Geographic photographer Krista Rossow and another entitled “Beyond Bases” by penguinologist Tom Hart. In the afternoon, we joined naturalist Sophie Van Der Hart for her presentation, “The Evolution of Whales.”

It was an expedition evening! After dinner, we took Zodiac cruises to Annenkov Island.
