This morning, we woke up with National Geographic Orion anchored in one of the most spectacular locations in the Kimberley region. The Hunter River, named by Phillip Parker King in 1820, was originally known as Landadnari by the Wunambal people from the region.

The rugged sandstone cliffs in this area tower over the broad expanse of mangroves that border nearby Porosus Creek. The rich tidal ecosystem showcased its stars: the soaring white-bellied sea eagle, brahminy kites, eastern ospreys, and, of course, the majestic saltwater crocodile.
