Wow, what an incredible day aboard National Geographic Venture! Our morning started with some thrilling Zodiac rides around the Inian Islands, filled with amazing marine animals and birds. Steller sea lions and sea otters are such charismatic creatures, and it’s always a treat to see tufted puffins, and other less common birds.
The afternoon hike to the WWII gun on George Island was a fascinating contrast, mixing history with the natural beauty of the island. Spotting lichen, fungi, and even molds added such an interesting dimension to the hike.
We ended the day with an exhilarating polar plunge from the beach of George Island. There’s something uniquely refreshing about taking a polar plunge, especially after a day full of adventure and exploration.
