Day one aboard National Geographic Endurance had guests up and about exploring and getting their sea legs as we began our journey crossing the infamous Drake Passage towards Antarctica. Throughout the day, briefings were conducted on the upcoming adventures, including Zodiac procedures, landings, and biosecurity.
Guests enjoyed their first few of many delicious meals from the ship’s two restaurants, and talks took place in the Ice Lounge, including, “Masters of the Wind – Introduction to Southern Ocean Seabirds,” by Naturalist Jackie Weston and, “Iphone and Smartphone Photography,” by National Geographic Certified Photo Instructor Jim Pfitzer.
The day came to a close with a Captain’s Welcome cocktail hour. Excitement was palpable as we sailed on and anticipated the next day’s adventure, including the possibility of an afternoon Zodiac cruise.
