We started our day with an early outing to explore the small and picturesque island of South Plaza. Here we found a unique species of reptile called the Galapagos land iguana. Their reptilian appearance and colors are outstanding. Swallow-tailed gulls nested right alongside the trail. Large, active males guarded the sea lion territories. At this time of year, sea lion pups are born.
On Santa Fe, we continued with aquatic activities like kayaking and snorkeling in the shallow and clear turquoise waters of Santa Fe Bay. Sea lions, turtles, large schools of various fish, and rays were observed. Later, we explored the island and found land iguanas among other animals like finches, doves, hawks, and mockingbirds.
