Santiago is the fifth largest island of the Galapagos Archipelago. The human history of this island is diverse, due to the many different groups that have used this place as a shelter and hiding spot, well known by pirates and whalers from many countries as an ideal spot to hunt, and to gather food and water. Darwin also visited this island in 1835.
Today at 6:30 am, we visited Espumilla Beach and the iconic Buccaneer’s Cove. We started our excursion with a hike of the area, following by opportunities to go kayaking, paddle-boarding, snorkeling and Zodiac cruising. We saw baby fur sea lions, boobies, and a variety of fish beneath the waves.
In the afternoon, we visited Egas Port, where we snorkeled from the beach and went for a walk to check on the grottos, which are beautiful lava formations. It was a full day of great activities in the Enchanted Islands!
