We began our morning with a wet landing on a soft sandy green beach full of sea lions. Today was gray and cooler than usual for the Galapagos. We walked nearly two miles in search of red-footed boobies, lava lizards, and mockingbirds, all unique to this island. We also witnessed a blue-footed booby mating dance. Afterward, we returned to the beach to enjoy our water activities, such as snorkeling and swimming.
While back onboard for a delicious typical Ecuadorian lunch, we repositioned to our next destination, Cerro Brujo. We enjoyed the beautiful one-mile-long white sandy beach where we had our last opportunity to witness the Galapagos sea lions at sunset.
In the evening, we headed to the airport and passed by Leon Dormido, a scenic tuff-rock formation, as we bid farewell to the Galapagos while the sun set. Thank you, Wellesley College, for joining us in the Galapagos, and we hope to see you again soon.
