Today we woke up to a beautiful sunny day here in Southeast Alaska. The conditions couldn’t have been better as we got ready for our morning activities. We were able to choose between kayaking and a variety of hikes led by our natural history staff. We explored the intertidal region of Port Althorp and saw many signs of the bears that populate this area. On this gorgeous sunny day, it was a great way to explore this incredible area.

After lunch, we hopped into Zodiacs and explored the Inian Islands. This is one of the natural history team’s favorite areas because this is where everything comes to feed. It wasn’t long before we saw sea otters, Steller sea lions, and bald eagles. The Steller sea lions were so curious and playful as they swam all around us, and we got a very up close and personal look. Laughter and excitement could be heard from every expedition landing craft, and this will absolutely be a day that is not soon forgotten.
