Today the weather was kind to us with excellent conditions for accessing the small landing at Pitcairn Island’s harbor. This small volcanic island often experiences large swells and waves that make for treacherous conditions when attempting to visit. With fine conditions on our side, we made the most of our day and experienced all that the island has to offer.

Pitcairn Island has a famous maritime history. The mutineers on board HMAS Bounty sought refuge and new lives in exile on this remote island in the South Pacific. The descendants living on the island today make up the tiny population of 47 people. In welcoming us to their island, we witnessed their kindness to visitors and the laidback nature of a small community in one of the most isolated places in the Pacific.
