This morning, we woke up as National Geographic Quest weighed her anchor and started moving towards Sergius Narrows. An ambitious crew joined Ann Marie, our Wellness Specialist, on the sun deck for an early morning stretch class as the remote shores of Baranof Island rolled by. Later in the morning we sipped our hot drinks on the bow while watching Steller sea lions and two humpback whales in Peril Strait.
After a lovely lunch, we went ashore at Lake Eva. Some guests hiked through Tongass National Forest as an introduction to the temperate rainforest, while others kayaked into Lake Eva. As kayakers ventured into Lake Eva, they saw countless spawning salmon and watched harbor seals feasting. Juvenile bald eagles soared overhead, and as they neared the mouth of the river, they were greeted by a brown bear hunting salmon.
