After a full week of early mornings and late nights, all on board now know sleeping in would just mean missing out on more adventures. Unperturbed by a light Alaskan drizzle, we set forth to explore every facet that Pavlof Harbor had to offer. Now-veteran kayakers bounced along the coastline while hikers that have been inundated with walks through old growth forests took a few minutes to just sit quietly and absorb the permeating lush serenity. The only way it could be more peaceful was to be part of the staff dive team that plunged into the depths and myriad of life that the world below holds.
Then, as all good things eventually must, our day and our expedition drew to a close. With more “until next times” being exchanged than goodbyes, the on board company we had all found still had to part our separate ways to go back home. Despite dispersing to the various separate corners of the globe, we went knowing that we had all shared a very special and singular week in the unique corner that is the National Geographic Sea Bird in Southeast Alaska.
