Today, the largest rainforest on the planet was ready to show us its wonders, and we were also ready to explore the forest and find them. The amount of wildlife in the dense green forest is mind-boggling! There was a symphony of bird songs all around us as we explored this amazing ecosystem made up of rivers, trees, and animals.
This morning we started by paying a visit to Pahuachiro Creek. The waters were black and with the first light of the day in the jungle was reflected on the river’s surface, like a giant mirror. Everywhere we looked, we spotted the first songbirds and raptors, such as the elegant black-collared hawk and white-headed caracaras. Regarding mammals, a troop of squirrel monkeys could be heard making their unique sounds, and soon they were spotted in plain view!
At mid-morning, we explored another place, known as Casual rainforest. Here, we had an amazing time with the members of the community, who showed us the wildlife of the forest. They helped us to find an anaconda, a sloth, tarantulas, lizards and many other creatures! Just a fascinating morning.
This was not all—in the afternoon we explored another place with an amazing landscape, black water and pink dolphins!
It was an outstanding day with marvelous sightings, everything is new to us!
