Today we reached the farthest point of the Papaya Samiria Reserve that we will be exploring. It is indeed a privilege to be able to explore the very remote Pacaya River. This is a vast flooded area, where the slow flowing water has had time to absorb the tannin-rich decaying vegetation over the past few months of high water, and created a highly reflective mirror-like surface. It is a breath-taking scene! The dark calm waters of Pacaya create a beautiful kaleidoscope of patterns.
We had a lot of distance to cover today, so we left early and had breakfast on the way to our skiffs—but not just a sandwich, this was a full breakfast in style, just like every day on the Delfin II. Everything was brought with us on the skiff so we could enjoy our breakfast on the go!
Truly a remarkable day! Gorgeous scenery and lots of wildlife at Pacaya.
