Today was our first full day in the Galapagos Islands, and we visited a small island full of unique diversity. We had close encounters with blue-footed boobies performing their elaborate mating dance, frigatebirds and their big red gular pouches also searching for mates, land and marine iguanas, sea lions, and much more.
Soon we were all back on board, and headed to our next island: Rabida. This is the only red island (due to iron oxide) in the Galapagos, and it is home to greater flamingoes and American oystercatchers. Today we started with snorkeling along the shoreline, and we saw many different kinds of fish including yellowtail razor surgeonfish, parrotfish, groupers, and whitetip reef sharks.
On our walk we also had an opportunity to take family pictures, for this is the vacation of a lifetime in a place that we will never forget. And today was just our first full day in the Galapagos Islands — we are just getting started!
