Today was our first day of exploration on the upper Amazon. We started our adventure before we’d even eaten breakfast, with a ride on a skiff to explore the tributaries of the Amazon River.
After we’d returned to ship and had breakfast, we pulled on our rubber boots and walked along a trail on one of the few areas where the water doesn’t reach. We were escorted by local people, who carried machetes to clear the path, and we scouted the forest-floor to look for interesting things. The rainforest never disappoints and we saw many of the birds, reptiles and mammals that live here.
