After breakfast we headed to a small dock at Papetoai for a local tour exploring the highlights of this beautiful island. The dock also had a craft market where guests could shop for local goods, including Tahitian black pearls. One group went on a hike into the forest to look at scared maraes. The other group learned about the history and culture of the island and stopped at an incredible lookout.
After lunch we loaded into local boats and cruised around the island to a location where we could swim with blacktip reef sharks and Tahitian stingrays. We followed this by landing at a local motu (island) and had drinks and a light snack, including local tropical fruits, and were entertained by a lively ukulele band.
