Today, we explored the powerful contrast of history and culture. The morning took us to Million Dollar Point, where the remains of World War II equipment still lie beneath the waves, a sobering reminder of the island’s past.
In the afternoon, we visited the stunning Matevulu Blue Hole. As we arrived, the women from Vanuatu performed a captivating water dance called Etetung. The rhythmic splashes of the water accompanied by their movements told stories of connection to the land and sea, a celebration of nature and life. This traditional dance, passed down generations, reflects the deep cultural ties Vanuatu women share with water as a source of sustenance and spirit.
The day ended with cocktails and recaps, allowing us to reflect and appreciate Vanuatu’s history and culture.
