The magnificent pink light of another beautiful sunrise found National Geographic Venture at a short distance from los islotes, small islets that are home to a sea lion rookery. Today, we awoke earlier than usual to start our morning activities. A group of courageous snorkelers entered the waters around the islets, hoping for close encounters with some California sea lions. Our expectations were rewarded! Then we all toured the islets, marveling at the amazing sights while we took photos and made great memories.

In the afternoon, Linda Burback instructed younger and talented Global Explorers to drive Zodiacs. We participated in a casual birding walk, a hike along the ridge on the south end of the island, and a final exploration of the coastal area, especially the tide pools.

Happy holidays, and safe travels back home!
