A particularly early wakeup call had guests of National Geographic Venture nestled just outside of LeConte Bay. Two rounds of Zodiac cruises traveling a few miles past the terminal moraine certainly lived up to the promise of grandiose views of these large icebergs that LeConte Glacier is known to produce. The overcast skies against the bay’s large, dark blue bergs made for a beautiful scene that gave way to exceptional photography.
The afternoon brought us to the quaint fishing town of Petersburg. The guests had opportunities to visit the main-street scene on their own, or take part in activities such as Muskeg (bog) hikes, floatplane tours above the LeConte Glacier, and dock walks to learn about the different types of fishing vessels throughout the marina.
