Today we spent the morning visiting the beautiful and peaceful village of Komiza; located on the less-visited side of Vis island, it still offers visitors the peace and graceful ambiance of an old fishing village. The harbor was filled with local fishing vessels, and yachts escaping the crowds of other Croatian islands. We walked the small lanes of the old village to Our Lady of the Pirates church, watched an interesting video on the geology of the area in the Visitors Center, and then took a van ride to the high point of Hum Hill for a panoramic view of the island. The highlight of the morning was our visit to the Tito Tunnels; these man-made structures were dug during the Cold War to protect this part of former Yugoslavia from a possible invasion by sea.
We came back to Sea Cloud II for a delicious lunch, and in the afternoon we set out again to visit the Roki Winery, where we had the pleasure to taste some Mediterranean snacks and try some local wines made with grapes native to this island.
