March is the highest blossom peak in Costa Rica, and of course there isn’t a better place to visit than Casa Orquideas Botanical Garden. It was as if orchids, heliconias, gingers, bromeliads and many more plants were competing in a beauty pageant. Every single trail was covered in colors and the birds and butterflies were having a parade on this little piece of paradise. After a lovely morning, the calm waters of the “Golfo Dulce” invited all of us to take a refreshing swim before getting back onboard National Geographic Sea Lion.
After a delicious lunch and a little time to rest, we all got the preparation announcement for our afternoon activities. Around 3:30 p.m. we got the kayaks and the expedition landing craft ready to go. The first to disembark were the kayakers, ready to paddle along the mangrove forest, an amazing ecosystem that offers everyone the chance to enjoy beautiful landscapes and a great number of birds while sightseeing.
Right after the kayaks we got the rest of the guests ready to depart on the expedition landing craft, a bit easier option for those that didn’t want to miss the Tigre River and all the beautiful things that it offers every time we get the chance to navigate it.
Finally it was time for all of us to get back onboard National Geographic Sea Lion and to enjoy our social hour and recap session. As always, it was a great time to get together and share the amazing experiences of the day.
