Deep Sea Monster found! Our guests were hiking and kayaking on Isla Espiritu Santo today. We found an extremely rare oarfish washed up near the beach and then found a larger one later, from our kayaks.
The oarfish is a deep sea fish that grows up to 35 feet long and has one long dorsal fin along its entire body. We were amazed by the large size, silvery skin, and long antenna-like appendages.
