Desolation Sound on the coast of British Columbia held our focus this day. No wasteland this but a miriad of channels and forested islands mark this jewel in the Pacific Northwest. Kayaks in a selection of brilliant colors sliced the flat waters in Carrington Bay. Great blue herons take flight at our approach. Paddlers ghost by deep blue sea stars clinging tightly to vertical granite walls. Night finds us making southing, a sliver of new moon to port; anticipation high for the morrow.
