Española Island
I have come to this island many times. I don’t remember how many, but each visit has been unique, and every time I have been marveled by the beauty of Española, and the fearlessness of its species. Above and below water we encountered amazing sightings. The waved albatrosses are some of my favourites. Majestic birds that are found around only for a few months, and then, spend their lives at sea, far from any piece of land, floating in a huge and mysterious ocean.
The water was absolutely clear today, and I got underwater footage of rays, giant hawkfish, diving boobies and this amazing stone scorpion fish. Many guests joined us in a deep water experience, but many saw the beauty of our marine reserve through the glass bottom boat as well. To complete a perfect day, we saw the moon rising full from the horizon, and then, with moon and the brightest constellations we had a star gazing talk on the sky deck. Then we weighed anchor and sailed west to our next destination, Floreana Island.
