Humpback Whales & San Jose del Cabo

Amazing things happen all the time! This morning, clouds were covering the sky and some sprays of breath hung close to the sea surface. They were humpback whale blows! We were traveling south close to Los Frailes and Cabo Pulmo National Park, the area where, every year during the winter, a breeding population of humpback whales gathers together to get involved in the different activities regarding their reproduction. We witnessed the behavior of several groups of adults slapping their pectoral fins at the water’s surface, and we all enjoyed the display of energy of a small calf that performed as many as 40 breaches lasting for at least half an hour.

In the afternoon, we continued our activities at San Jose del Cabo, where we had the opportunity to go bird watching and explore town.

To end the day, we spent the early evening out on deck enjoying special strawberry margarita drinks in hand, made by our bartender Mat, while anticipating the sunset. We approached Land’s End at dusk’s last light to see the famous arch and its surrounding rock formations.
