Floreana Island
Every day in Galápagos is a great day no matter where one goes. We always find sea lions playing together or with a small leaf that fell from a tree. Around the corner a Bahamas pintail duck swims fast into the mangroves in a large solitary brackish water pond. So we also take the time to retrieve by hand some letters from an ancient wooden barrel left as a Post Office Box. Here anyone can leave mail; someday some other traveler will pick up that mail and deliver it by hand, just as whalers did a couple hundreds of years ago.
Around Champion Islet we go snorkeling with large schools of colorful fish, a shark goes by; a giant marble ray rests at the bottom and impresses everyone with its huge size. Water temperature is a bit cold but it doesn’t matter, we find so much marine life that the temperature of the sea is the least important thing to us.
We feel very content with such a great day on Floreana and are eager to go to Española. Another wonderful day in Galápagos!
