Bartolomé & San Salvador Islands

What a peaceful morning! The sea looked like a mirror, reflecting the beauty of Bartolomé, with its brownish tuff cones, and the green vegetation of its flanks. Some of our guests landed on the island to conquer the very top, while others decided to explore by Zodiac, taking advantage of the cooler temperatures of the early morning.

Penguins were found along the coastline, while our hikers could see the several parasitic cones of all sorts: cinder cones, spatter cones, tuff cones, all from a 345-foot elevation.

We had a rainbow lighting the landing site in the afternoon. It was at Puerto Egas, at a black beach, where sea lions crowded to greet us. Several species were spotted along the shoreline, and at the very end of the walk, several fur sea lions were out of the caves enjoying the refreshing drizzle of the late afternoon.

We have visited two islands, we have snorkeled twice, we have kayaked, we have walked and we Zodiac rode, we have done it all on our first full day in the Galápagos.
