Española Island

There aren’t better turquoises and light greens in the sea than at Gardner Bay. The beach was splendid, with calm, crystalline and warm waters, a clear blue sky and dozens of sea lions; it made this morning sight the most idyllic of a vacation in the Galápagos.

After kayaking before breakfast, and deep water snorkeling around Gardner islet, everybody ended up at this beach, ready to relax and absorb its pure beauty and tranquility. People sun bathed, or swam, or walked along looking for the cutest sea lion (but that was impossible to achieve, as they are all equally cute).

Sunday ice cream, lunch’s dessert, was the top to our morning happiness. The walk at Punta Suarez reminded us of the uniqueness of this archipelago, with creatures endemic to specific islands, and found nowhere else in the world. Española has its mockingbird, its lava lizard, its marine iguana, and with these sightings life was plentiful, our week in the Galápagos had been completed, and our hearts are full with love for nature and conservation.
