The 2nd of September started with a walking tour of Bordeaux, where we could admire the 18th-century architecture of the townhouses with their wrought-iron balconies and plaster masks; churches; restored town squares; and the cathedral of St. Andre, which has recently been declared a UNESCO monument. The tour ended at the Girondin monument, a spectacular arrangement of houses and water fountains. Bordeaux is experiencing its best weather of the entire year, giving us perfect conditions to sail back out into the Atlantic on the high tide, bound for Basque country.
