Today we visited Floreana Island in the southeastern part of the Galapagos Islands. The wet season has started, the sky was clear, and the water was warm and calm. Our first outing was to the very famous and historic Post Office Bay. We contributed to the tradition carried out for centuries at the post office barrel, leaving behind postcards for delivery by future visitors. This mailing system is old but effective. Kayakers explored the mangroves along the bay and observed the rocky shores full of sea lions.
After an amazing snorkeling outing, we visited Cormorant Point. The first leaves of the deciduous incense trees were starting to grow. We observed the brackish water lagoon and sea turtles nesting on the beach. We were lucky to witness a couple female sea turtles coming out of the water. Our day ended with a beautiful sunset and a rising full moon.
