Early this morning we anchored at Punta Espinoza, located on Fernandina Island. Together with Isabela Island, they constitute the youngest islands of the Galápagos Archipelago. After breakfast we landed at the narrow strip of lava from La Cumbre Volcano. Here we experienced a land dominated by reptiles, the Galápagos marine iguana as well as other remarkable species. We concluded the morning exploring the underwater world!
In the afternoon, we navigated to Punta Vicente Roca near the mouth of the seahorse-shaped island of Isabela. Near the Cromwell upwelling, we explored Isabela’s coastline by Zodiac and encountered a unique diversity of marine wildlife.
To finish our day, we celebrated crossing the equatorial line onboard National Geographic Endeavour II.
