We awoke with a view of the beautiful landscape of Española Island, one of the oldest islands in the archipelago and home to a diverse group of endemic species. We started with a peaceful walk on a soft, sandy, coralline beach and then went kayaking. We followed this up with a deepwater snorkeling excursion where we saw a nice array of colorful fish and volcanic rocky reefs.
In the afternoon, we enjoyed a Zodiac exploration in the western region of Española. We had a fortunate encounter with the pelagic waved albatross along the dramatic, eroded cliffs covered with marine birds. We also explored inland where we observed albatrosses, boobies, and gulls.
