This morning we woke to find our vessel before the lustrous white sand beach of Gardner’s Bay.
Several guests opted to kayak before breakfast. After breakfast, we went to the beach to swim and explore, which had a collection of sea lions lying and padding about. Hood mockingbirds zipped and swooped as they caught flies the sea lions attracted, while a Galapagos hawk flew impressively above.
Those of us who chose to deep-water snorkel went to do so off the shores of Gardner Island while others arrived at the beach. Young Galapagos sea lions interacted with guests, helping to making this event quite a memorable one.
At noon we had a typical Ecuadorian lunch, due and sailing west toward Punta Suarez. Here we saw boobies, albatrosses, endemic lava lizards, mockingbirds, doves, swallow-tailed gulls, colorful marine iguanas, and sea lions while walking on boulders. Hood Island is a choice one to visit.
